Red Giants Respect JDT, But Will Go For The Win

Tonight, the Selangor FC team will receive a visit from the league’s defending champion, Johor Darul Ta’zim FC (JDT) at the MBPJ Stadium, Kelana Jaya for the 15th match of the Liga Super 2021.

For the record, in the first round of the Super League this season, the Red Giants team managed to tie the visitor with a 1-1 draw at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Iskandar Puteri, Johor with a goal by Selangor FC's prolific striker, Ifedayo Olusegun in the 7th minute of the match.

For tonight's match, Karsten Neitzel, Head Coach of Selangor FC has guided his men with a strategy that has been planned with the coaches to play with the best action against JDT.

"The coaches have conducted a recovery session after the match against KL City FC and held several sessions with the players in groups and teams to understand the plans that will be done for tonight's match," explained Karsten.

"The players need to be clear with all the plans and information to prepare themselves before the whistle of the match is blown. I believe they will give their best according to what has been planned," he added.

"Undoubtedly, JDT has a list of quality players including players on their bench. So tonight's match is like any other match, players have to give 100 percent and help each other teammates on the field to get the best results," he said for tonight's match.

As for the players, Selangor FC could not list down two imported players in the team sheet, Safuwan Baharudin (concussion) and Tim Heubach (ankle injury) as both of them are still undergoing recovery.

Meanwhile, two key players of the Red Giants, Halim Saari (ACL) and Shahrel Fikri (ankle injury) are also undergoing rehabilitation sessions with the club’s physio and will not be available for the team until the end of this season.

Earlier this week, Selangor FC made an official announcement regarding the condition of the team’s skipper, Brendan Gan who was diagnosed with testicular cancer. The gaffer stated he will always be behind Brendan until he recovers as well as the coaches, officials, players, and management of the Red Giants.

The latest position of the Red Giants in the Super League 2021 is at the fifth spot with 20 points accumulated as a result of five wins, five draws, and four defeats, while the JDT team is the current league leader with 30 points. A win could see the Red Giants leapfrogged Penang FC, who are currently in the fourth spot with 22 points.

Hopefully, Selangor FC will bring home three valuable points at home tonight. Come on you, Red Giants!
